Air Conditioner Cost Calculator
Estimate central or window air conditioner energy use and monthly cost from BTUs, SEER2 rating and hours.
How it is calculated
Seasonal power draw (kW) ≈ BTU per hour ÷ SEER2 ÷ 1,000. Energy = draw × hours × days. SEER2 is the cooling efficiency rating shown on the unit’s nameplate and in its specifications; a higher number uses less electricity.
Results are estimates for planning, not bills or professional advice. For generator hookups use a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician and approved under the Canadian Electrical Code.
