How it is calculated
Monthly production ≈ kW × peak sun hours × 30 × 0.8 (system losses). Self-used kWh save your full retail rate; exported kWh earn your utility’s export or net-metering credit (provincial programs vary). Payback = cost ÷ yearly savings.
Results are estimates for planning, not bills or professional advice. For generator hookups use a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician and approved under the Canadian Electrical Code.
